Update on my Father-In-Law

He's recovering from triple bypass surgery. Ventilator is in, he's resting as comfortably as possible, which they're going to try to extend throughout the night. I'm not going to be in classes tomorrow so I'll need to send a few emails to my instructors letting them know and getting any missed assignments.
He'll be awake tomorrow and we want to be there if they try to take him off the ventilator.
Chance, the big old lazy yellow lab we call a dog, is missing him like crazy. They've been together every day for the past 4 years and Carl being in the hospital is definitely a change in their daily routine.
They wake up, go outside, have a snack, usually nap around 1, run the vacuum cleaner everyday, have a certain lunch and then a bologna snack at dinnertime.. then of course there's the obligatory dog treat at bedtime. It's an absolute ritual which we won't be able to follow since we're in classes most of the day. The dog will be stir crazy and we'll be having to make a few extra round trips back and forth from college in order to make sure he goes outside to potty without having to hold it for 8 or 9 hours at a time.
On Mondays, we're usually at the college from 8:30 am until 9 pm. Which, since we live in Arcanum, means we're gone from about 7:30 am until almost 10 pm. Way too long for a dog to be inside!!
I just keep trying to reassure my husband that everything is going to be okay.
His dad is definitely better off at the Dayton Heart Hospital vs. being in absolute pain and suffering at home. From now on, if he has a hangnail we're taking him straight to the doctor. No matter how much he tries to trivialize it. No more chances. He's blown his shot at making the decision to ride it out. No way, no how!
Just wanted to post an update. Everything is okay. I'm sure there will be more to this story, and hopefully it will be on a positive note.
