Ever have one of those days that you'd like to kick your significant other directly in the ass?
I'm not going to go into details, but today would be a good day for him to just stay out of my way. Either that, or I'm going to be polishing boots! Arrggghhhh....
I must just be in one of those moods.
I have a gazillion things to do, just like everyone, and he's just aggravating me. So is the cat, the dog and everyone else around here! Let me get my laundry done, the dishes done, all of the web projects I have in the works done, my homework done, drive to pick up kids, figure out dinner and just do everything for you. Please. It's my life's ambition to be your mother and caregiver.
You're almost 28 years old. Do it yourself. In the immortal words of John Andreoni, "The world ain't your momma!!".
Okay, I went into short detail. I didn't mean to, the fingers are just doing all of the talking for me.
The cat is staring at me like I'm possessed and the dog -- well, he doesn't do much of anything -- is just laying around like a fair pig. The cat eats like one and the dog wallows like one.
I really should find something upbeat and happy to talk about.
I'll try and think of something for later.
I think everyone at Edison is counting down days until either payday or loan dispursement dates.
It irks everyone horribly that they take 10 days to actually allow the students to have their money. The loan company tells us when it's going to be overnighted to the school, and yet 10 days later it's in our grubby little hands. You would think that Edison would be a little quicker on the draw since they're the ones who are getting a lot of this money circulated right back to them. You know, to cover the costs of going to school there or to pay for books. Hell, even the cafeteria benefits since we have money and are actually able to eat something while we're at school instead of packing peanut butter and jelly sandwiches! See, here I went off on another rant!
Don't get me started about when time sheets are due! Why does it have to be by 9 am on a Friday. Have you ever tried to track down a faculty member to sign a time sheet prior to 9 am on Friday morning? I think I'd have a better chance of parting the Red Sea. But, in all fairness, don't they think there may be a more appropriate time? I realize not everyone procrastinates, but there are such things as memory lapses. I may be at home on a Thursday night and come to the realization that -- "Oh, crap! Time sheets are due tomorrow!!". I don't have classes on Friday, so I would have to make a 46 mile round trip to deliver my timesheet, plus hunt down my awesome boss, and then try to sprint to the finish line in order to hit the deadline. If not, well, you're not getting paid for another 2 weeks. And, in that case, you may get a double payday, but only if you don't miss the next deadline!
I'm serious. This way of being paid is absolutely archaic. With the widespread use of computers, why not have us log on or submit our time sheets electronically. Our bosses would be able to approve them, possibly interoffice mail something if it needs to be signed, and I'm sure it would save a TON on paper for the college. Not to mention that it would be easier on the person who has to double check all of the paperwork since the computer software system would have built in double check features. How hard would this be? With all of the technical genius at Edison, I don't know why this hasn't already been implemented!
Hmmm.... that may be all for now.
I've got a few things that I'm working on that I will show off here pretty soon, but I can't disclose them yet!
Hope everyone is having a better day than I am!
~Cheers.
