Halloween....

I've always loved Halloween. All Hallows Eve. Beggar's night. Trick or treat.
I believe Fall is my favorite time of the year, anyways! The air turning cold, the leaves becoming gorgeous shades of orange and red, and yes, I even enjoy the rain.
Carving pumpkins, decorating with corn stalks, orange and black ribbons, witches, ghouls, ghosts-- sparkly purple lights on porches. People go all out and it makes me smile.

I can remember trick-or-treating for hours on end, until we couldn't wait any longer to dig into our buckets of candy. It was on Friday night when I was a child, so that the teachers didn't have to deal with sleepy children who were hyped up on sugar! Now, we put football games in the community before holidays. Where are our priorities? We allow children a 2 hour window in which they may get as much as possible. It doesn't even get dark out! Kids are being hauled around in wagons, some have to be told to get out in order to ring the doorbell! What is that about? If they don't want to trick-or-treat, then let them stay home and check out the costumes from the kids who are out and about that night!

Okay, that's enough Halloween rant for now!
I finished my basic design "depth" project. It was quite fun and I think it came out pretty nicely! It was ________ Lost in a neverending __________ . -- Fill in the blanks. I decided that since it was the spooky season, I would do "A Ghost" lost in a neverending "Graveyard". I used all 6 of my sharp pencils in shading my work of art. I've had fun in the basic design class... I haven't had an art class since 1989! And that was my ONE and ONLY art class! This is about design but I don't know what I would do if I couldn't draw! I'm no Monet, but at least people can tell what I'm trying to draw!!
We just finished the metamorphosis project. I morphed a bubble into a fish! A cartoon fish, don't get excited! We had also done the "shape" project -- which is the internal and external modifications of shapes - circle square triangle. I drew a kitty cat in a hat about to get pounced on. It turned out pretty cute! I can draw cartoons, but trying to draw something to look lifelike? I'm lost!

My other classes are coming along well. Math is always a trying experience. The amount of review, learning, TLE's, book work, notes, labs, etc. that they try to shove into an 8 week course is for maniacs! Hard to get a years worth of high school algebra, mixed with geometry and trigonometry into an 8 week course. I'm good at math, but when you graduated high school 16 years ago, there are a few rules here and there that escape your memory!

I have more, but I'll save it for another day :)
Happy Humpday!
